Cradle of Humankind – Maropeng and Sterkfontein Caves

The tour of Sterfontein starts above the ground and takes visitors deep into the caves. The Maropeng exhibition is housed in a tumulus building – where you will see the artifacts of the stones ages and early humans. Our ancestors came to the Maropeng to use the local rocks for tumb making – these stone tumbs and others are periodically display in the fossil area.
